BCB Fire 14th June 2009 - Photographs

The following photographs were taken between around 19:30 and 20:10 on 14/06/09 at BCB's premises where 11 Fire angines responded to the fire in the Green Hangar. Also see below for press articles related to the incident.

Hydrant with only one hose connected One fireman was repeatedly asked to connect a second hose to this hydrant but each time replied that the pressure was not adequate. A second hose was never connected.

Peg Board A grim reminder of lives at risk, this time the firemen themselves. Further pegs were added to this as additional officers went into the building.

Fireman tests hose A fireman tests a hose before entering the building.

Late arrivals Two of the last of the eleven fire engines to arrive - presumably from further a field.

Too many emergency vehicles for one photograph It wasn't possible to get all the emergency vehicles into one photgraph but this gives a good impression of how seriously the incident was taken by the emergency services.

Fire Crew Scavenge water from the bottom of Rudgate These fireman told a TRA committee member that they had to fill the Fire Engine's tank at the bottom of Rudgate as the pressure was too low on the Busines Park.

Press Reports

Harrogate Advertiser - Fire Station Crew Manager states "The fire could have been very nasty because of the mix of chemicals and solutions inside the building up there."
